Community Enforcement Officers

Our Community Enforcement Officers (CEOs) are there to make Glasgow cleaner and safer for everyone.

Working in partnership with Clean Glasgow and Police Scotland, they carry out highly visible, uniformed patrols across the city.

Their primary purpose is to enforce Glasgow’s litter and dog fouling legislation through fixed penalty notices, but they do much more than just issue tickets…

  • They’re responsible for operating Community Safety Glasgow’s CCTV vans, which act as a deterrent to antisocial behaviour.
  • They record incidents of environmental crime and antisocial behaviour within communities.
  • They pass on information to the Police Intelligence Office to provide evidence for prosecution.
  • They make up part of the City Centre Response Team, linking up with the Glasgow Operations Centre, the Police and Retail Security to find and detain shoplifters, as well as reunite lost children with their guardians.
  • They engage with vulnerable people at risk, directing them to services that will help with accommodation, food and addiction services where needed.
